9 ELEMENT AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE READ OVER CAREFULLY :
• You must leave the bandage on for a minimum of 5 hours or remove the bandage the following morning. After the bandage has been removed, take a hot shower using the hottest water that you can handle (without burning yourself). Using your clean fingertips, as best as you can, clean the tattoo really well. Please do not use any cloths, loofahs, or sponges. Make sure you get rid of all plasma and blood, it should feel like normal skin when you are finished.
• The cleaner it is, the faster and better it will heal. Anything left over may cause scabbing and delay the healing process. We recommend ending the cleaning session with cooler/cold water to cool down the skin.
• Gently pat the tattooed area dry or let it air dry. Leave the tattooed area alone for 2-3 days to let it completely dry, then start applying lotion. Ensure you are using unscented lotion. However, we highly recommend using Aquaphor. Other lotion recommendations include Lubriderm, Cetaphil, Aveeno, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E products.
• As a general routine: Shower then apply lotion twice daily.
• Make sure your hands are always clean when touching your tattoo. Especially if you have pets, you don’t know where they’ve been. Always wash hands before touching your tattoo.
PLEASE NOTE :
• No pools until the tattoo is completely healed.
• No intense physical activities for a minimum of 1 week after, but we recommend 2 weeks.
• No prolonged sun exposure, even when the tattoo is healed. If you are going to be in the sun, you must use sunscreen for the longevity of the tattoo. This also applies to tanning beds.
• Do not scratch/pick flakes! Feeling itchy is normal. If it is extremely irritable and unbearable, slapping or using an ice pack on the area will help relieve it.
• No Vaseline and/or Polysporin. No exceptions.
Second Skin Aftercare
Please keep the bandage on for a minimum of 4 days to a maximum of 7 days.
This bandage is waterproof. However, using a loofah or any soaps with any sort of scrubs in it (i.e. coconut shells, micro beads, etc.) is NOT recommended as it will lift off the adhesive. Baths, Saunas, Hot Tubs and still bodies of water are also NOT recommended.
Removal:
When removing the bandage, do so at the end of a shower.
Peel the second skin off slowly or stretch the film away from the center of the tattoo (like taking 3M tape off the wall)
Wash your tattoo with mild/unscented soap, gently massaging with your fingertips. NEVER USE A BAR OF SOAP.
Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel once you exit the shower.
Premature Removal:
Remove the bandage early ONLY if it lifts or fluid leaks outside, exposing your tattoo. In such cases, the bandage is no longer sealed or sanitary.
If you experience redness and itchiness around the edge of the bandage, this could indicate an allergic reaction. Please remove the bandage and wash your tattoo.
The bandage will ‘bubble’ due to fluid pooling underneath. DO NOT pop the bubble; the fluid will reabsorb within 20-36 hours.
After removal of Second skin:
Apply a thin layer of ointment - I recommend using Aquaphor. Other lotion recommendations include UNSCENTED Lubriderm, Cetaphil, Aveeno, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E products.
Wash your tattoo at least once a day, followed by ointment.
Keep your tattoo clean and AVOID sun exposure
IMPORTANT NOTES :
Always wash your hands before touching the tattoo.
No pools or hot tubs until the tattoo is completely healed.
No intense physical activities for a minimum of 1 week after, but we recommend 2 weeks.
Do not scratch/pick flakes! Feeling itchy is normal. If it is extremely irritable and unbearable, slapping or using an ice pack on the area will help relieve it.
No Vaseline and/or Polysporin. No exceptions.
Soreness, swelling & bruising is completely normal and to be expected but please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!
Healing process will take 4-6 weeks, during this time:
Avoid sun exposure on fresh tattoos. Do not use sunscreen while your tattoo is still healing.
Once the tattoo is fully healed, sunscreen is highly recommended for the longevity of the tattoo. This also applies to tanning beds.
